I have to say, I LOVE the convenience of the virtual class and the way you have hooked up the technology is just awesome! I’m vaccinated and COULD go in person and probably will soon in the future but for right now-the kitchen gym of mine is working perfectly! Fridays I just hop in the shower after the 9am class and am fresh n ready for my 11am-8pm styling day at the salon👍 Kudos to the team for going with the flow!
I started at KG Strong roughly three months ago after more than a year a half of lockdown and sedentary living. Going into my first day, I was looking to shed the pandemic pounds and kickstart a healthy lifestyle, and after my first class with Meghan, I was hooked! Not only did I have a great workout with superb coaching, I felt welcomed to the class and didn't feel that the room was dominated by any "alpha" personalities that tend to be present at CrossFit and other types of gyms. I bought a 21-day pass and started coming 2-3 times a week, mainly to Elaine and Taja's classes. I love that each coach has their own style that emphasizes different movements, which meant that I was truly taking a holistic approach to my physical health. Thank you, KG Strong!
Like most people, I had never been particularly fit. Never played sports, or committed to a gym, or regularly sweated for fun. I had a solid routine of working too much and going straight to the couch after. Combine that with my love of a good beer, and I was nearing 40 already medically overweight. At 39 I gave birth to my son and decided I needed to change something if I was going to be there for him long-term. I started working out at KG Strong my first day back at work from parental leave. I was weak and intimidated, but the trainers at KG Strong are awesome. They create an amazingly supportive and fun atmosphere where everyone can work within their own range and build their confidence, skill, and strength. I went from never having picked up a kettlebell to being able to do a pull-up within a year. When the pandemic hit, Katie reached out personally to get me on the Zoom and keep me going. It has meant the world to my mental and physical health over these past few years to have the space to feel strong, supported, and confident. My son is about to be 3 and I am 40 lbs lighter, massively stronger, and far more energetic than I was when I got pregnant. Katie and all the trainers at KG Strong are a huge reason why. You don't have to be an athlete to show up here - you just have to keep showing up!!
I am obsessed with KG Strong! At first I was really afraid of weight lighting but now that I've discovered the welcoming, down-to-earth, supportive atmosphere at KG Strong I'm totally hooked. The small group classes are the perfect balance for me - I love that I get personalized attention without necessarily being the complete center of attention. The community is also a great perk, I've made actual gym friends thanks to my weekly appearances at KG Strong and I find that the people in class cheer me on and celebrate my wins with me. And the teachers always provide helpful modifications, whether you're in-person or virtual. I highly recommend you give it a try!
